ForSight Capacity Planning Software

Capacity Planning

Leveraging your IT infrastructure investment is critical to your company’s profitability. User demands can fluctuate dramatically at any moment, making it increasingly important to maintain service delivery at all levels at all times. Adding hardware or network capacity in order to avoid service level issues is no longer the most efficient way to meet your business goals.

Sightline ForSight is intended to replace the manual capacity planning process with fully automated capacity forecasts. ForSight can provide automated capacity forecasts for multiple systems on a defined schedule, and also generates a capacity problem report that highlights systems in danger of running out of critical resources such as memory, disk or CPU. Addressing capacity issues can take months but Sightline’s Forsight will give planners the early warning required to proactively manage capacity.

Sightline’s advanced ForSight solution enables IT professionals to accurately plan for infrastructure capacity changes that assure consistent service levels and optimal ROI.

Capacity Problem Report

The capacity problem report provides actionable intelligence about systems that are expected to run out of capacity along with the projected date. The data can be filtered using the existing connection view technology. Combined with the new sub-view feature, this will provide excellent drill down and rollup views that appeal to all users from executives to systems administrators.

     Automated Capacity Planning Problem Report

Users will be able to drill down into a system from the problem report to see the full forecast for the system, or to view a chart of the particular metric that is forecasted to violate its threshold.

Forecast Reports

ForSight provides out-of-the-box templates for all supported operating systems that cover CPU, Disk, Memory and Network capacity. New and custom metrics can be added from any data source that has been collected to the forecast template. Default reports will include historical data, forecasted data and a threshold line that represents the capacity limit.

Automated Capacity Planning

Forecasts are defined by providing the forecast period, the frequency at which to update the forecast, the data sources to be included in the forecast, the Report template (used to determine the metrics to forecast), and the Alert group that defines the capacity thresholds.

Once defined, the forecast(s) will be run automatically and the results can be view directly in EDM.
